Happy Easter
Jaydon’s at the perfect age for Easter egg hunts. He loves to eat eggs and thought the idea of finding them was great fun. The Pegasus Club set up a morning egg hunt and Jaydon was very focused on his task.
Once he figured out the game was to put as many eggs in his basket as possible he couldn’t be stopped. I went from helping him find hiding spots to trying to distract him so that some of the other kids could find them – and Jaydon was one of the youngest kids out looking for the eggs.
He was a little disappointed that they weren’t hard boiled eggs to eat but once I showed him the stickers and candy inside he go over that very quickly.
I didn’t get too many other pictures because I had started coming down with a cold and wasn’t feeling 100% (and it later turned into a sinus infection – fun, fun…)

Tristian and Santiago's Birthday
Another weekend and another birthday party. This time it was for Tristian (turning 4) and Santiago (turning 2). They were our next door neighbors in Al-Malki and live only a few houses down from us in Al-Rayyan. Their party was the first get together in the new compound. They set up games for all the kids and Jaydon got to experience playing musical chairs with all the big kids.
He was the first one to get called out and didn't really understand why the man wouldn't let him play anymore. He told me he was dancing with the other kids when the man said no more play - he was very sad and decided to skip the other games and just sit on the swing. Later they had a piƱata and Jaydon had fun hitting it but when the candy came out he was a little overwhelmed by all the big kids going after the candy.
He found one piece of candy that was missed and just as he reached down to grab it another kids took it. I was trying very hard to let Jaydon manage the situation on his own and not interject – it was very hard not to step in. Fortunately, one of the older girls saw the situation and offered Jaydon one of her pieces of candy which made Jaydon feel much better. I’m not sure which he liked more, the attention from the girl or getting the candy.
They also had a magician and Jaydon thought he had some pretty neat toys.
Jaydon’s favorite part was the cake (of course) and he finished the party by having some fun on his own (away from the big kids) on the slide.

18 Village Loop South
The new compound is called Al-Rayyan Village and is located right next to the newly finished D-ring road highway. There are ~500 units in the compound and EM has leased about half of them.
Our new house is a significant upgrade for us; it has 3 floors, 4 bedrooms plus a maid’s room and an American sized kitchen. Jaydon and I are still argueing over what color it is ( I think it's orange, Jaydons says it's pink).
We also have a beautiful back yard full of grass we don’t have to take care of and our backyard opens right into the large playground. (This is the view from our bedroom balcony).
My commute to work is about 10-15 minutes longer but Steve’s is about that much shorter.
The first night in the house we let Athena and Mav hang out in the back yard while the movers were finishing bringing all the boxes in and unpacking. They both had settled in so nicely that we decided to leave them out there overnight with the sliding glass door open in case they wanted to come in (no pet door, but that’s another story…). Well, we should’ve checked the yard better because in one corner they had not connected the fencing which left a hole just large enough for our (very big) cat, Mav to escape through. The move itself was uneventful but we spent the whole weekend scouring the compound for Mav rather than settling in and putting stuff away. Fortunately, after 3 days (and 1 trip to the hospital for over exerting myself) Steve found Mav on a midnight search. Moving house at 7 months pregnant is not recomended :)
