More birthday fun

After all the birthday fun it was time open presents.

There must have been a sale on legos, or perhaps that what people think of when they think of Tylor, because almost half his presents were various duplo lego sets.

He had fun playing with his new toys and his big 2 birthday balloon.

I also figured a good way to get rid of all the extra fruit and ice cream was to make smoothies with a little whipped cream on top.

Tylor was in heaven and gobbled his up, then helped Jaydon finish his.

After another day of baking Tylor was ready for his next birthday celebration.

This time at school.

It looks like all the kiddos had fun and Tylor blew out his candles.

Tylor is Two

Tylor's second birthday is here already. I took the day off work to get ready since we decided to have the party at home.

This time, I said I was going to reduce the amount of food because we always have way too much.

Well apparently that just is not possible for me- the table was still full, and we had way to much.

We put up the decorations the night before. When Tylor came downstairs that morning to see the streamers and balloons his eyes got really big and he let out an enthusiastic WOW!

The theme was Chuggington so while I finished up the party food Steve and the boys tried to put the train track together for everyone to play with when they got there. They had a difficult time all getting coordinated on whether they were building a track or taking one apart. Steve finally gave up and waited until nap time to finish it. We also had a cute engineers outfit for Tylor to wear. He took one look at it and absolutely refused to put it on. He wouldn't even wear the hat - instead he insisted on wearing pants that were a few inches too short, guess its time to clean out his drawers a bit.

Most of the kids didn't want to wear the hats either so a few of the dads decided to join the fun and wear them.

When it was cake time Tylor was so excited that all the attention was on him.

He was all giggles while everyone was singing.

Gave a big applause when everyone was done singing, blew out his candles (with a little help from big brother) and ceased the opportunity to enjoy the cake.

Once the cake was gone he proceeded to have a cupcake too.

He happily sat at the table eating cake and cupcakes while everyone else went off to play, he had his priorities straight that day. You only turn 2 once :)

Starfish fun and dead birds

Every week the nursery the boys go to send out pictures of there activities over the week.

Everyone always seems to be having lots of fun.

I'm always amazed by the things they under take with a bunch of 2 or 4 year olds.

The rumor is also that Tylor has a girlfriend named GiGi.

The teachers say if you ask him who is girlfriend is he says GiGi - though he doesn't do it when I ask him. (And as soon as the eye healed up, Tylor and Jaydon were out to lunch with dad and Tylor ran full speed into the corner of a table right on his cheek)

Also if you ask him who's the handsome boy, he insists it's Mylo. Even if you say, "No Tylor is the handsome boy" he shakes his head and say, "no Mylo". All the teachers just crack up at this so I'm sure that's why he keeps doing it.

Jaydons class had a rainy day so all the kids got to dig out there long lost, never used, rain coats and umbrellas and play in the sprinklers at school.

Can you imagine a bunch of 4 year olds running around crazy with umbrellas.

And you can't get much cooler then playing your kleenex box air guitar (Jaydon had his eyes checked that morning which is why he had his sunglasses on at school). Mav also left us a surprise on the porch one day. Jaydon got up from his nap and went out to play and while I was getting Tylor out of bed and I heard Jaydon yelling, "Mommy come quick..it's dead". As you can imagine I hurried down the stairs to see a super sad Jaydon holding a little dead finch.

He looked so pitiful I had to take his picture. We carefully wrapped the bird in some paper towels and plastic bags, sad good-bye and gently put him in the garbage. Jaydon was very mad at Mav for the rest of the day for that.

Black-eyes, yummy corn, the beach and dragon-flys

So May started with Tylor walking straight into the corner of the table and making contact with the soft part of his eye just above the socket bone. I watched the whole thing but for some reason didn't react. I seem to remember thinking something like, "he sees the table...there's no way he's going to walk right into it...he's still headed right for it...wait he is...[insert sound of screaming kids here]".

It was a huge bump that then turned into a nice bruise all around the socket.

Tylor has also discovered what it means when people ask him to smile or say cheese, so he gave us a great smile to show off his black-eye.

With summer almost here we're eating dinner every night outside before it gets too hot and enjoying some yummy corn.

The boys have decided they prefer to gnaw it off the cob rather then have it cut off which always makes for an entertaining meal.

We also headed out to the beach again. This time it was windy and high tide so the water wasn't quite as much fun.

Tylor had an incident where he waded in and got knocked over by a wave and had been dunked under about 3 times before I made it to him. He got a little scared from that and spent the rest of the morning staying very close by which is very atypical for him (he never wants to sit on my lap). He prefers to play by himself or as he says, "Tywer doit".

Every so often we also get visits from some beautiful dragon flys. We've seen them blue, green, yellow and this one was red, orange and pink depending on how the light hit him. He spent a good 30 minutes flying around us, landing on the branch, and checking out the boys as much as they were checking out him. He even did a little dragonfly wiggle-dance with his abdomen that I tried to catch on video but it ended up being blurry.
