18 Village Loop South

The new compound is called Al-Rayyan Village and is located right next to the newly finished D-ring road highway. There are ~500 units in the compound and EM has leased about half of them. Our new house is a significant upgrade for us; it has 3 floors, 4 bedrooms plus a maid’s room and an American sized kitchen. Jaydon and I are still argueing over what color it is ( I think it's orange, Jaydons says it's pink). We also have a beautiful back yard full of grass we don’t have to take care of and our backyard opens right into the large playground. (This is the view from our bedroom balcony). My commute to work is about 10-15 minutes longer but Steve’s is about that much shorter.
The first night in the house we let Athena and Mav hang out in the back yard while the movers were finishing bringing all the boxes in and unpacking. They both had settled in so nicely that we decided to leave them out there overnight with the sliding glass door open in case they wanted to come in (no pet door, but that’s another story…). Well, we should’ve checked the yard better because in one corner they had not connected the fencing which left a hole just large enough for our (very big) cat, Mav to escape through. The move itself was uneventful but we spent the whole weekend scouring the compound for Mav rather than settling in and putting stuff away. Fortunately, after 3 days (and 1 trip to the hospital for over exerting myself) Steve found Mav on a midnight search. Moving house at 7 months pregnant is not recomended :)
